Why Do We Need Fitness?

Being fit means being at home in a body you love and trust, a body that works, a body full of vigor, vitality, and spirit. How long has it been since you felt that way about your body? The Mountain Trek fitness vacation program, under Cathy’s high-energy direction, will help you get there. If you haven’t been in a gym for years or if you’re in an exercise rut and not getting the physical fitness results you want, you will welcome Cathy – and our program – into your life. If you work, this program works. Or, as Cathy says, “If you give us 100 percent, you’ll get back 110.”

Fitness Boot Camp at Mountain Trek means addressing these areas:

  • physical fitness
  • health fitness
  • muscle fitness
  • exercise fitness
  • lifetime fitness

helping to foster healthy mental, emotional, and spiritual fitness.

Fitness is an all-day commitment at Mountain Trek's fitness retreats. You begin each morning with a gentle Hatha Yoga class – perfect for muscle fitness, lengthening and joint mobility, and an energizing preparation for a day of mountain hiking. Every evening you participate in one of the varied and (yes, believe it) fun activities Cathy has planned that will burn fat, tone muscles and make you smile through the sweat. As both our Fitness Director and Head Guide, Cathy ensures motivation in the gym and fun and safety on the trail.

You will take core classes for stability, posture and balance (a great boon to energized mountain hiking), strength and endurance classes for muscle development and toning, and cardio classes for calorie torching. Cathy’s circuit class will have you hoola-hooping, boxing, trampolining, jump-roping and tapping into that kid energy you forgot you had. Her spin classes are legendary, as she guides you up and down hills, around hairpin turns and, occasionally, through rain showers (while never leaving the safety of your stationary bike). And you’ll have fun and burn calories while Aeroboxing and taking Zumba dance classes. Our fully equipped fitness facility, with treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, weight machines and free weights – and a breathtaking view of the lake – is open for your use 24 hours.

Health and Fitness Boot Camp

Your Mountain Trek health and fitness vacation begins and ends with an in-depth body composition analysis that includes fat weight, muscle weight and water weight, body mass index (BMI), blood pressure and girth measurements. That way you can track – and celebrate – your physical fitness progress during your time with us.

The importance of physical fitness is discovered when you become fully aware of your overall health and physical fitness, your muscle fitness reaching new heights and your exercise fitness level rewarding your mind, body and spirit. We strive to send you home from our health and fitness retreats with a rock solid lifetime fitness attitude.
