Our FitPlan Plus™ guests are those who
are serious about losing fat, and are prepared to work as hard
physically as they can, and learn a new way to eat, in order to get the
fat off and keep it off long term. They are not interested in a
pampering vacation; quite the opposite, FitPlan Plus™ guests want an
intensive, highly structured, professionally comprehensive boot camp
experience that will enable them to lose as much fat as individually
safely possible during their stay with us, and learn a personal program
that will help them continue the new lifestyle back at home. 3) MUSCLE WEIGHT: maintained, or possibly gain 1 lb. per week would be desirable for long term health. Depends upon calorie count choice (900 or 1200) being appropriate for intake of protein, and willingness to resistance train in gym almost daily. With a limit of 14 guests per week, FitPlan Plus™ can place you in your group level of physical fitness: beginner, intermediate, or more advanced, for the hiking (spring/summer/fall) and snowshoeing (winter) activities, therefore addressing your concern that, as a beginner you may be "holding others back", or as a more advanced level you may be held back by those less fit. As much as is reasonably possible within a small group environment, we endeavor to offer the fitness program to your level, to make you feel comfortable and to help you improve. We use multiple guides to split the groups and offer different levels of fitness most days. We have introduced two ways to enjoy and benefit from our FitPlan Plus™ program:
FitPlan Plus™ is a popular program in the spring, summer, fall, and winter at Mountain Trek. In the winter we offer superb snowshoeing and cross country skiing (as well as an optional downhill ski day for those staying over more than 7-nights - there is an extra charge for this), and in the summer and early fall we offer alpine hiking in the glorious Selkirk and Purcell mountains. Spring and late fall are the seasons for "lower elevation" hiking, less steep and more gentle, but still very scenic. This program appeals to those who believe that they must "get out there and do it", rather than sit in a lecture and talk about it. This is a truly comprehensive package combining our outdoor experiences, indoor training and assessment, a sensible effective food plan, and a motivational mindset to get you going in the right direction and keep going! FitPlan Plus™ can accommodate those who are just getting back on the road to fitness, as well as those who want to increase their current fitness level. This is truly a retreat for those who are serious about fat loss, and who are prepared to not only work physically as hard as they can, but also be open to changes in their lifestyle in terms of food, activity, and stress reduction. Only then will the benefits of the FitPlan Plus™ kick in and continue to promote the maintenance of a healthy body weight and body fat content. The FitPlan Plus™ retreat is a HIGHLY structured daily regimen of balanced physical activity (for development of higher levels of flexibility, strength, and cardiovascular capabilities), healthy food intake* (and how to do it), stress reduction, self-nurturing, and pampering/relaxation -- see the "Typical Schedule". You will learn about your body composition and see it move in a positive direction during your stay, by strategically altering your exercise program and your food intake. You will learn the proper and easy ways to hike or snowshoe, fitwalk, weight-train, and stretch safely and effectively. You will learn to use personal fitness equipment (heart rate monitor, pedometer, poles and hydration bladders such as Platypus) to enhance and evaluate each fitness session. You will learn to examine your lifestyle and identify the important changes that should be made and CAN be made to promote long-term weight loss with healthier habits of self care. We combine the expertise of our professional fitness and health staff, with our natural healthy surroundings perfect for fitness, fun, and relaxation. This program is geared to those who are serious about losing weight. Energizing nutrition, appropriate outdoor and indoor exercise, education, and well-earned relaxation and pampering are the components of this retreat. Every day is HIGHLY structured and very active.
